Most of the topics in this web site explain the technical skills needed in
the digital darkroom. While technical skills are critical to the success
of an image, they are not why we became photographers.
Most people take pictures so they can record a moment, place, person or thing.
Others become photographers so they can express themselves artistically.
The purpose of this section is to explore the artistic side of image making.
Specific examples, listed to the left, will be used to discuss the artistic
thought process from the perspective of the basic elements of a photograph.
The technical steps will also be discussed, but only in general terms.
Before reading the examples, you will want to read the
Elements page to understand the
basic elements of a photograph.
